...in collaboration with Jazz Sous Les Pommiers...
Considered one of the greatest clarinetists on the planet, David Krakauer is hailed internationally as a key innovator in modern klezmer music as well as a leading voice in classical and jazz music. As part of the exhibition "Varian Fry, the paths of exile", he will present a never-before-seen program presenting music of Sidney Bechet, Benny Goodman and 1940s African American alongside klezmer music of the Jews of Eastern Europe.
From August 1940 to September 1941, during World War II in Vichy France, American journalist Varian Fry ran a rescue network that helped 2,000 anti-Nazi and Jewish refugees, mostly artists and intellectuals, escape from persecution by Nazi Germany.
